How much does it cost to make a cell phone call while in Port? I have Cingular...

I called Cigular & had a World Travelers plan put on my phone for an additional $5.99 a mo. The calls from Jamaica & Grand Cayman will be $1.69 a minute & Mexico will be .59.

Before leaving on our cruise last year I checked with Cingular about calling from abroad. I have Cingular nationwide calling and had free calls from Puerto Rico and the USVI. Even with a GSM enabled phone I would have had to buy a plan that allowed access to St. Martin's network, same as when we went to Europe.

Unless you really are hooked to your cell phone, most ports do have convenient calling centers which are MUCH cheaper to use

 

Just ask any crew member where they are as they all use them to call home

On my Cingular Nationwide, most of E. Carib & Puerto Rico were included for no additional cost.

 

What is the name of the plan where a poster above got Mexico? Did it cover other W. Carib ports??

Can't tell you about CIngular, my Alltel plan considers San Juan and St. Thomas as domestic so it costs the same as at home.
