Onboard covid positive

Lots of stories on here if you read down the threads.  Basically you can expect to be quarantined to your cabin along with everyone else in your room, with no ability to leave for any reason.  They'll deliver food to you and then there seem to be mixed reviews/results about how people have been moved to quarantine hotels once back in port.  I believe the latest comments I have seen suggested a refund in FCC of the balance of the cruise from the time of the positive test, however earlier on I had heard of folks getting full FCC for the full sailing.

Im trying to find out what would happen if I tested positive for covid while on board. How do they handle quarantine? And what does disembarkation look like?

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

While NCL has not released any specifics, Royal Caribbean proudly advertises that over 1 million people have cruised since the pandemic re-start. And only a very, very small handful have had any issues with COVID. The probability of this scenario happening is near zero.

That' being said, if you test positive, your cruise is over. You are locked in a room of the cruise line's choosing. They immediately quarantine the test-positive passenger, and likely separate you from your party until they test positive or test negative over a few days.

Good on you for looking ahead and trying to prepare.  Hopefully, someone who actually know the answer because they have been through the experience will respond.  Any other responses are guesses and should be viewed as such.

I'm glad you asked this question, as I'm wondering the same thing.

We booked impusively recently for a cruise that sails in July.  I think cabin fever finally got the better of me.

Then, I started reading the threads coming fromt he Ruby Princess about how many people are in quarantine, not getting fed, no answers to phone calls to the med center, no communicaiton.  Just bad, bad scenarios.

Now, I'm so worried.  I truly hope NCL is handling this better than Priincess seems to be, especially with the new variant seemingly being more contagious.

Any reports from anyone who has actually experienced a positive test and the fallout would be much appreciated, at least so we know what to expect and can be as prepared as possible.
