OHappyDaze Posted April 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2022 I have a cruise booked for the Oceania Aegean Wonders Cruise July 27, 2022. I would like to know what are the best options for hotels in Athens for a couple days before the cruise and a day after the cruise. Does any one have suggestions? Rare mauibabes Posted April 16, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2022 When we were there in October for Riviera re-intro sailing, we stayed at the Intercontinental. It was the O hotel in Istanbul and we just swapped it over on our own, not Oceania booked. Was our first trip to Athens so don’t have any great words of wisdom. We had about a 20+ minute drive to the port and on the ride there we passed many hotels. If you belong to any hotel loyalty programs, Marriott or Hyatt or Hilton or just look at Hotels.com Good luck. ChadnKate Posted April 18, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2022 A Marriott Bonvoy hotel: the Hotel Grand Bretagne. Centrally located and with a view from its rooftop terrace/restaurant of the Acropolis that you will always remember. We will stay there again next year at the end of a Vista cruise. su-arizona Posted April 19, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2022 We've stayed at the Athens Gate several times, and really enjoy the views from the rooftop restaurant/bar. Also had fabulous views of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum from our room. Prices are reasonable and the location is perfect...just a short walk on the pedestrian walkway to the Museum and side entrance to the Acropolis. Also very convenient to the Plaka - you can walk to most everything. We've also stayed at Grand Bretagna and Hotel Ava. Grand Bretagne is "grander" but location is not as convenient...a protest or demonstration can ruin your stay. Ava is great location, but lacking views. For post-cruise stays, our flights always leave very early so we stay at the Sofitel at the airport. More sleep, less stress for the flight home.
