lochlane Posted April 18, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2022 Does anyone know if the medical team aboard Wonder of the Seas has Paxlovid if one comes down with covid?
Rare steamboats Posted April 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2022 I doubt it... This specific medication is only for certain groups of people where you expect severe symptons and being hospitalized. If you only have mild symptoms (which is the norm when your vaxxed) you don´t need this kind of medication. steamboats
chengkp75 Posted April 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2022 While this drug has an EUA from the US FDA, the medical center on a Bahamian flag vessel is considered to be a Bahamian medical facility, and any drugs dispensed there would have to meet the requirements for approval from the Bahamas, not the US. I believe there is a Caribbean Public Health Agency that has 15 member nations that pool their resources and approvals.
lochlane Posted April 19, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted April 19, 2022 My sis and her husband just returned from a cruise and one day at home and they both came down with Covid. They had been vexed and were really sick, lucky they were able to get Paxlovid from their doc. Still very sick. Over 65 in age. Sis worried about others onboard such as dining staff who were so kind. Jasukkie Posted April 19, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2022 Paxlovid is in good supply now and it really would be smart of cruise ships to stock it. Very helpful for at-risk people.
