Not so. It was essential hull and machinery maintenance, some soft furnishings were renewed when she was out of service but no major renovation.

As I say, it depends upon what you call renovation.  If you look at the schedule, "Revolution" is not implied.  The hull didn't get the strip down / repaint that was planned.  Underwent some large scale mechanical work, and "some" was the entire public area and many cabins.

Thankfully, Celebrity made a major design correction with the Century class ships.  When the lead ship, Century, came out in 1995, she did not have any non-suite balcony staterooms.  By then the balcony boom in the cruise industry had already begun.  In fact she still holds the Celebrity fleet record for having most outside cabins on a ship--at least until balconies were retrofitted on her years later.

By the time the other two Century class ships were built--Galaxy (1996) and Mercury (1997)--they each had over 160 balcony cabins (aka Category 2).

Looks like it's back to the future for Celebrity.  The E-class ships only have a handful of non-suite balcony staterooms.

The few non suite balconies on the E-Class aren't true balconies. They open like balconies, but are large open port holes.

What is your definition of a true balcony? The deluxe porthole verandas, unlike the IV cabins, have a real outdoor space that's exposed to the elements. Yes,the outdoor space is within the superstructure of the ship but that design is not uncommon in older cruise ships nor newer cruiseships.
