HAL Past Passenger Rate

I got a private sale for 2 cruises booked this past winter.  But, and this is a big but, when I called to add the Have it All Promotion, paying the rack rate, they sold that to me but since I had a private sale, they wouldn't give me the dining and shore excursions that go with the promo.  In other words, I paid 45 dollars a day for a drink package without the extras that ordinarily go along with the Have It All.  All I ever got from HAL was, sorry, you got a private sale.  Well, when I got onboard and found out all the people who were on a casino deal, practically paying zero dollars, I was livid. Sick of all the benefits going to casino people and putting club orange people above 4 and 5* people.  I wonder who is running the show.

That is an interesting data point. I have always had them match the current promo/fare on any booking outside of final payment. Granted I have never booked a private sale before. If you are paying the rack rate on HIA you really ought to get whatever they are currently offering.

Were you within final payment? I’m assuming canceling and rebooking wasn’t an option.

It was before final payment, but I was not going to cancel.  We had our hearts set on cruising.  We did feel it was unfair of HAL to treat this the way they did but we went ahead anyway.

Ever since the Celebration Sale was uploaded and even now that it is over, the mariner rate has not shown up online.  I know it is valid for my mariner number because if you look at a travel agency web site, it shows there but not on the Holland America site.  Anybody else having a problem?

No, but I do have an experience to relate to other parts of the above convo: I just refared a Tahiti cruise under the new Book Early and Save promo. The fare was exactly the same but the current HIA included Crew Appreciation and OBC.

Today I got an email touting Private Sale including to Tahiti. I followed the link but did not log in (it really never gave me a chance), so essentially a dummy booking but under Private Sale. The HIA included the OBC and I assume the Hotel Appreciation -- and the fare was $5000 MORE for a cabin in the same area and category!

So I just logged in and the fare is still the same, new, higher price. Huh. Also only two cabins showing in the forward section of our deck... but don't know if they've gone back to playing the game of not being honest in showing what is actually available.

Can't say I've ever seen anything identified as a Mariner price, as -- like today! -- my dummy (not logged in) price is always the same when I then log in. PS I do not gamble in the casino at all.

I’m having the very same problem.  I’ve gone all the way into booking looking for it.  It’s not showing.  Like you I can see it on another travel site.

When you click in through an email it’s been my experience that the website recognizes you if you tend to log in from a recognized device.  I log in 90 percent of the time anyway if not more.

Private Sales:  Haven't had one for ages. Are any Hawaii included in yours?

I didn't notice -- but Tahiti was mentioned by itself, as opposed to the website's "plan a cruise" that lumps them. Can't find the email now, not even in my Trash...

Found it -- the "headliner" destinations are South America, Australia/New Zealand, Tahiti, Panama Canal... with "you may also be interested in" Asia & Holiday. So Hawaii not mentioned at all.

Thanks for looking :) I think I found mine, after some serious excavation. From June.  No Hawaii.

Enjoy your Tahiti cruise!  Such a great cruise we've always liked!
