Godfry tour questions

We are a family of 10 that want to take the tour. Is Godfry there as soon as you get off the ship or do we have to travel to get to him? How far is the shopping area from where he picks us up? (for example if we get picked up at 10, thats not really 2 hours of shopping is it, when you consider any travel time??) How will the travel bus be in June? Too hot? I know there is no ac on the bus. Thanks!

Hello! We took Godfrey last October and he is great! He will be there when you get of the ship - he will have a sign with your name on it. The shopping was not very far at all - I can't quite remember but I don't think longer than 10 - 15 mins - I am sure someone else can confirm that!!!! We were there in October so I can't tell you about the weather - it was hot but not bad on his bus as it is all open. There is a small visitor center across the street from where there are like flea market vendors which is air conditioned and has bathrooms and vending machines. Godfrey is great and if you decide to go make reservations asap!!!!! Good luck!

This is what Godfrey did on our trip - I do not know if it differs but where he dropped us off for shopping there was a little flea market set up and the visitor center was across the street from there - if you ask Godfrey I am sure he will direct you to it. He picked us up in the same location - maybe he does that so you can use the restrooms before you continue on with your tour. It was nice - there were some sofa's and chairs, it was air conditioned and had soda/water machines plus the restrooms and they had a tv. If you have any more questions please ask!!!!

when you get picked up at 10 for shopping-- he returns for you for Island touring at noon. So travel time IS included in that 2 hours. But like Dolfin says---its less then 15 minutes away.

There is shopping at the pier but Godfrey takes you downtown where prices are a little better.

When we took the tour in April we had a choice of 9, 10, or 11 a.m. pickup. By my watch it was 7 minutes from when we left the Havensight cruise dock until we were dropped off in downtown Charlotte Amalie.

One could easily spend three hours just in the vendor's market mentioned above, but be sure to take some time to stroll the narrow streets and check out some of the other shops. My favorite is "Carson Co. Antiques" on Royal Dane Mall (a small street that runs north-south, maybe five or six blocks west of the vendor's market) that has VERY old maps, books, coins, very unique stuff. The Greenhouse Restaurant on Veteran's Drive (same vicinity, by the waterfront) has a great open air bar with a harbor view.

You have your choice of Magen's Bay, Sapphire, or Coki Beaches from 2 to 4 pm after the island tour per se. We picked Sapphire, got to see the other two as people were dropped off and felt we had by far made the best choice (unless you're heavily into snorkeling, in which case consider Coki but I wouldn't go there for the beach per se).

If you have any last-minute items you need to pick up on your way back to the cruise ship pier, Godfrey will drop you off at the K-Mart near the harbor and pick you back up a few minutes later.

Godfrey would be worth twice what he charges. Be sure to leave him a nice tip. There are pix of him and his tour in the link under our signature, below.

"These moments we’re left with - may you always remember
These moments are shared, by few
And those harbor lights, lord they’re coming into view
We’ll bid our farewells much too soon
So drink it up, this one’s for you -
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise."

Hi we just returned from a cruise on the Glory, we did the tour with Godfrey and he was just wonderful, we decided not to stay on the beach and snokel but to do more shopping, so he dropped us off in the shopping area and returned for us at 5pm. We were the only ones on his tour bus when he returned. He is a great tour guide, I would strongly reccomend him. He was waiting for us holding a sign with our name, when we stepped off the ship. Im sure you will really enjoy your tour.
