shoolover Posted February 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2006 I was told tonight that there is no gambling aloud on a cruise to Hawaii because you're never in international waters. Same with Alaskan cruises, is this true? Half the fun, to us anyways, is the casino!!! LOL

nparmelee Posted February 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2006 The casino was open when we were at sea on our Alaskan cruise. For the Hawaiin cruises, do you mean the ones that stay in Hawaii, like NCL or the ones that travel to there and back to the mainland?
flamomo Posted February 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2006 If you are talking about the "Pride" ships, there would be no gambling because Hawaii does not permit it either on land or in Hawaiian waters (which includes all of Hawaii). In fact, I understand those ships don't even have casinos (makes sense). However, if you take one of the cruises that departs from the west coast of the US (ie. LA), as I did on the Island Princess, the casino is open as usual during the sea days (4 outbound and 5 inbound). Lots of gambling lovers on my cruise had withdrawl while we were in Hawaiian waters. I almost did because I love the slots. But there were plenty of scheduled activities aboard for the evenings we were in Hawaii. I think Princess knew some PAX would need other things to fill those evenings, since the casino was closed. Happily, it reopened 30 minutes after we left our last Hawaiian port. shoolover Posted February 26, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted February 26, 2006 I am referring to the ones to and from Hawaii (RCCL, Holland, etc). Glad to hear the sea days to and from have the casino open!!! What a boring trip that would be :D. I realize there is lots going on for the most part but still would like the choice to gamble alittle if desired. Once in Hawaii, I wouldn't probably have the need for the casino as there would be so much to see and do. Would want to suck it all in Thanks for the replies!!:p
