rfs7306 Posted May 4, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2022 Hope someone can help me . I ordered my proctored covid test to get on ship and back to USA and they won't be here till Saturday and I am leaving on Friday this week. When I ordered them it said 4 days delivery but now it is almost a week . My question is can I get tested at the pier ? I could do it in Rome as we are going to be there the day before boarding but not sure how available they are there and if they will be accepted by Royal. Has anyone had any experience with this or getting it at the pier in Rome?

The season for RCI in the Med is just starting and I don't think we've had any Rome embarkations yet. Any antigen test in Rome, including the airport, should be good enough for embarkation. Sunshine3601 Posted May 4, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2022 (edited) Testing at FCO Airport is 20 Euros. Book appt online. Can you cancel emed order? If not make sure a neighbor gets the pkg when delivered, they are temperature sensitive. Edited May 4, 2022 by Sunshine3601

Has anyone had any experience with this or getting it at the pier in Rome? you should google your question. Most cities have plenty of places to go for testing. Plus usually cheaper than in the USA. Don't know the answer for Rome, but I'm sure it is easy
kirian Posted May 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2022 I was able to purchase an at home iHealth antigen test from my CVS. However, you must also purchase the proctoring service separately online if you need the test to be valid for the cruise. I plan to have this as my backup if I'm unable to get a rapid test done in person and have to resort to a PCR which may or may not get back in time (I have noticed less and less of the drugstores in my particular area are offering rapid NAATs or antigens). I chose iHealth over eMed because I can get the test right at the corner drugstore, they are reimbursed through my insurance (they only cost $20 for a two pack), and if I don't need the proctor service, then I'm not out any extra money. If I need it, I can easily go online and add it for $25pp (and they seem to have tons of next day appointments available). Just wanted to toss out another option in case you find it helpful. Enjoy your Med cruise!!!!
