Military Benefit/On board credit

I'm sorry if this has  been answered previously but I have received the following from P and O. Is this usually the case?

"it appears we have added an additional promotion to your booking in the form of a 'Thank You For Cruising' onboard credit.

Unfortunately the Military benefit is not combinable with this promotion and we apologise for any disappointment this may cause."

Not very patriotic of P&O, but perhaps not surprising.

Similar to the Blue Light Card promotions,  Cunard would not allow the share holder benefit to the same  booking.

I am sorry to hear that one of my colleagues in the contact centre said the military benefit was not combinable with your drinks package offer, this is not the case, please accept my apologies on their behalf for the inconvenience this has caused you. 

I can confirm that I have added your military benefits onto your booking which means your on board spend total is now £265 pp which we hope you will enjoy spending on board with us during your memorable cruise on our brand new ship, Arvia. 

Please could you also let us know your Defence Service Discount card number so I can add these to your booking notes, and please don't forget to bring this on your cruise with you as proof of entitlement.

I’ve just received this from P&O this afternoon after a couple of months of waiting, so if you were told military benefit doesn’t apply to the promotion by the contact centre, it does
