Jlhutch6 Posted May 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2022 Everyone recommends waterproof shoes for ports bc of the frequent rain. I have a waterproof jacket and umbrella and layers planned for my backpack, but for shoes I have running shoes that are fabric and Chacos sandals. Is it too cold in late June, early July for Chacos? I don’t really want to buy waterproof hikers when I won’t need them again. Thanks.
SightCRR Posted May 5, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2022 I would advise waterproof spray for your running shoes. Skip the sandals and think about another pair of running shoes to dry out while wearing second pair. sighterr
Dancing Shoes Posted May 5, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2022 Good idea for the waterproof spray. They make Gortex socks to keep your feet dry. Nike makes Gortex runners, but Merrell low hikers/Gortex go for less. Let me guess, you live somewhere dry??
Jlhutch6 Posted May 6, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted May 6, 2022 I found some Columbia waterproof leather lightweight hiking shoes for a good price. Thanks for the help!
Rare rjm11 Posted May 6, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2022 depending on what excursions you're doing, and how much time you want to spend on deck, consider some waterproof pants. They work as a nice wind layer too. With the right gear you can be perfectly comfortable even if it's raining pretty hard! I find umbrellas a waste- many places you'll be will be crowded, and they are a big hassle with other people around like on a whale watch or something- and totally useless if it's windy.
