Upgrading refreshment package to alcohol package onboard

The cost to do so, is the prevailing on board cost of the deluxe package.

They won’t just charge you the difference, but will refund the refreshment package back to you as OBC, then bill you the rate for the Deluxe.

Ah. Thank you for the info!

Around 3 or 4 years ago, before Covid, I purchased refreshment packages for our adult kids and 2 of them decided they wanted the Deluxe package. They were only charged for the difference between what was paid and the current cost of the Dx package. However, things may have changed since then; that's just what we experienced.

A few years back we took our 21 year old on a cruise for her birthday.  She does not drink much alcohol, but after seeing her first night's bar tab, u, and I got a really good deal.  They pro-rated the UBP by the number of nights remaining, then they gave full credit for the pre-paid soda package.  It ended up being about the same price had we pre-paid the UBP. I think I had started talking to the SL concierge about this, and he called someone and sent me to someone else to handle the transaction.  Maybe involving the concierge helped.
