Vancouver- some questions

Recommended Posts

We are on a HAL cruise north bound leaving 5/22 just have a few questions. What are the mask mandates in Vancouver, airport and cruise port, restaurants? Staying at Pan Pacific for one night before and have the cruise package they offer, are they still taking luggage from room to ship? Has anyone been picked for the random Covid test at the airport? I appreciate any answers or tips anyone has. Thanks

No mask mandates any more, they are entirely optional as far as restaurants and hotels go.

Woody's completely correct that the provincial mandates have dropped - but private businesses being what they are, some do still maintain mask requirements if you want to shop/eat/whatever, many still politely request but do not require. So depending on whether you're coming from a viewpoint of 'I hate having to mask and want to avoid it' or 'actually I still feel more comfortable masking up' you may want to do some research. Various threads on Reddit give lists that are decent starting points but should be checked directly with the businesses if you have a strong opinion one way or the other.

Oh, and in case you were not aware mask-wearing does remain mandatory at YVR - don't annoy the CBSA agents who can turn you back just because they're having a bad day by being adamant about your freedoms while lining up to be processed!!!!

There are two people I never want to p*ss off; Mrs. Dawg and a CBSA agent. 😉

I’m not against mask at all , just want to be prepared for whatever needs to be done. Thanks for the info

Just got home from a northbound cruise. Masks must be worn on flights arriving into Vancouver, even if coming from the states. As stated already, they are required in YVR. They are also required in the cruise ship terminal.

Thanks. A question on ArriveCAN, I’m arriving on Saturday for a Sunday north bound, do we just need to do ArriveCAN one time? Also is the process at the airport fairly simple? We have never been to Vancouver and little nervous about what we need to do. Thank you so much

We have a similar arrival one day, cruise the next. I spoke to the ArriveCAN specialists in Canada and was told that I only needed the one as long as it was completed within 72 hours of embarking. That is 3 day so I will complete the form on Weds for a Friday cruise- that is 48 hours so we should be good.

I found it to be simple until my luggage didn’t arrive. I had a feeling it wouldn’t since my flight from Chicago to Seattle was delayed to the point that I had minutes to make my connection. The Alaska Airlines employee at the luggage counter had the paperwork ready to go for me to sign. He was given a heads up and said it would be on the next flight 3hrs later. They delivered my luggage to the hotel by 10pm that night. I had to go to a side room for customs to turn in my paperwork allowing the airline to take my luggage. But from what I could tell, if I had my luggage, it would have been a quick 30 seconds.

I arrived at 1:45 in the afternoon and I was out of the airport by 3pm. They’ll ask you why you’re entering Canada and ask you about the cruise.
