I wish Virgin would base a ship out of L.A. and have short cruises from Long Beach and perhaps make arrangements with a beach hotel in Cabo to allow for a semi-private beach experience.

They want the young hip insta folks so I would imagine LA would be the epicenter for that sort of demo.

I am just confused about what "sailors" do all day given that the pool is the size of the hot tub and there do not seem to be many entertainment venues.  I am all for reading by the pool for hours, but not at VV's price.

All true, but... the no kids thing.  That's the selling point for so many of us.  I'll put up with many things I don't like to not see babies in diapers in the hot tub, strollers blocking primary walkways screaming toddlers in the steakhouse, etc.  Those of us with our own kids probably appreciate that the most!  🙂

Doesn't that tell us that the major lines could be successful with adults-only cruises or even separate AO lines, i.e. just make Celebrity AO.  $$$

The AI resort companies almost all have AO locations.  Why not cruise lines?

oh no doubt. the no kids thing is the linchpin - i was just rambling about who the target audience would be of people who are looking for that experience. personally, i won't sail a line that allows kids while VV exists, and yes, i'd love for Celebrity AO to launch!

Great information and pictures! Seems like the ship was empty in pictures. Curious about activities like Zumba classes and yoga? This is why we’re considering a virgin voyage, we love to be active. Was there any live music and dancing opportunities? Thanks 🙏 namaste!

the group fitness classes are all very popular and there are several per day (they are free)!

I don't recall any Zumba classes specifically, but there were a ton of yoga classes, spin, HIIT and barre.  There's a part of the gym that has on-demand fitness classes and then there's also really nice cardio equipment.  Certainly enough to keep us active for the 5 days were were on in December - we were so busy with fitness classes that we didn't get to do things like Bingo with The Hostess, any of the casino tournaments or any of the sessions they held in the shops/salons during the day.

What would you do at a beach resort?

For me I sometimes go on holiday to a warm place and do sunbathing, sitting in the pool or jacuzzi and wandering to the beach in the day and then drinks/clubs in the evenings. I can do exactly the same on their ships.
But last time we were on board (March from the UK so not warm enough to be outside much) we also did the VHS retro group workout one morning and a quiz, saw a comedy/magic show and watched a guitarist in the afternoons.

maybe I’m swayed as the cruises we’ve been on have been reasonably priced though, as you say there is a limit to how much it’s worth paying for a poolside holiday.

Reading, wading in the pool, water aerobics, water trivia/music competitions/whatever, archery, tasting events, water polo, pool blackjack, various lessons and tastings, etc.  Then dinner and nighttime activities.

I guess I am still stuck on having one pool the size of a hot tub.  Does no one get in it?  How does it even work?

there is also a large whirlpool that seats a lot of people and six (including Richard’s Rooftop) hot tubs.

if you don’t want to swim and just sit there is space.

We were in cooler weather out of England and the jacuzzi whirlpool was busy and the hot tubs were full but of course in overcast weather no one was in the regular pool!

there are not really lessons on Virgin, but there are some cocktail making classes (and how to photograph them) at an extra charge. To be honest I wouldn’t be interested in lessons myself.
there is trivia and similar.
