Boarding Report MSC Seashore Yacht Club 2022-05-14

Hello folks. I just thought I’d post a quick report on my Yacht Club boarding experience today on MSC Seashore in Miami.

I checked in at the white tent at 13:20 for my 13:30 scheduled boarding time. The area was cluttered with baggage and the shore staff were very inattentive, enjoying a group chat. When I finally interrupted their banter, the guy sitting behind the table checked my vaccination certificate and COVID test form. It was unclear to me what I was supposed to do next with my suitcase and myself. I had to ask several times what the process was. I finally approached a stevedore myself who took care of my bag. I gave him $5. There were about five of us waiting to be escorted into the terminal and after about 10 minutes, were finally lead past the long line by another shore employee to the security screening area. The shore guy then led us up the escalator and we went directly to the checkin agent, again bypassing another long line. The check-in itself was quick and efficient. As an FYI for any Canadians reading this, at no point was I asked to provide any proof of the insurance that I purchased for the cruise, as per the MSC website. There was no COVID test or temperature test administered at the terminal.

The next person I met was one of the YC butlers who intercepted me and asked that I wait in a small side lounge until another butler from the ship came to escort me on board. This didn’t take long and I was offered my choice of a non-chilled water, juice or soda.

After a few more YC passengers had assembled, we were escorted on board and directly to the Yacht Club. I got to my cabin at 13:45. From getting out of the Uber to my cabin took about 25 minutes. That is quite amazing - well done MSC. I will write the really poor first impression at the white tent off as an anomaly, as all my previous experiences there were good ones.

MSC Seashore is a beautiful ship! My cabin in the Yacht Club was spotless and my suitcase was bought into my room by my friendly butler about 30 minutes after I got there.

The Venchi gelato on MSC Seashore is no longer free for YC guests. Oh well, the pizza still is!

JetJock_YHZ in the last few days MSC appears to have made a change in that Covid insurance is no longer required for Canadians and others from US ports.  Thanks for your comments on the boarding process.

JetJock_YHZ -- I hear that the snacks in the fridge (specifically the nuts) can only be replenished once, and then they start to charge -- can you confirm.

kenn_ll -- cruise insurance is still on their website but I hope what you say is true.

That is correct. The first Toblerone bar, nuts and Pringles are complimentary. Refills are thereafter charged.

so you can eat the first batch and tell them not to refill to avoid charges?

how about the alcohol stocked in the fridge?

You can tell you butler not to refill.  There is no alcohol miniatures in the fridge anymore (only alcohol is beer in the fridge).  Your butler will give you one bottle of alcohol (700 to 750L size) or one bottle of wine per room. It is from a limited menu.

Thanks for that info! I'll be in YC deluxe balcony next week. What happens if you arrive earlier than the recommended time will they make you wait ?

Do you know if they have liquid soap dispenser in the bathroom? Watching Youtube videos I don't see one.

They don't make you wait outside.  They take you through security and the check-in process.  There is a secluded holding area with light refreshments, and when the ship is cleared for boarding, the butlers will escort you onto the ship.

There is liquid soap and shampoo in the shower.  They also give you small tubes of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, as well as bars of soap.

@WirelessRoute  You don't say which ship.  On the MERA in YC there is NOT liquid soap in dispenser, just hand bar soap.  I plan on brining a small bottle the next time we are in YC.

Odd.  There was shampoo and soap on 14019.

We are referring to the Hand soap at the sink. Is there a dispenser there for liquid soap at the sink? In the Video's I watched of YC balcony rooms on Seashore, I don't see on in YC but see ones in standard balcony rooms very odd.

Sorry, I assumed the shower when you said bathroom.  There wasn't a dispenser by the sink on Seashore that I can remember, and we've sailed her three times.  There is a tube of body wash by Med, along with the lotion, conditioner, and shampoo, though.

No worries this is consistent with what we see in the Youtube videos. I will just bring my own small soap bottle.  Do we have to book the YC thermal spa access in advance or is it something we just walk in and do? Did you see Indian food appear on the dining menus or the grill buffet? The cruise staff often makes unbelievable good Indian food.

On the Divina this week the body wash and shampoo dispensers have been removed, at least in the Yacht Club.  There was a printed note in the cabin that all multi-use items were removed.  Only had the Med branded tubes.

How do you request your preferences?  Once onboard or do you by any chance have a copy of this limited menu? 😎. It’s been a couple of years since our first YC sailing and I’m trying to reacquaint myself with the process.

I was in the YC on the same sailing, and loved every minute of it. I had gotten a e-mail about one week before asking what alcoholic drink I would like. I said scotch, and the next day a bottle of single malt was delivered to the room. There's a lot of construction going on in the terminal, so it's not as luxurious as it could be, but that'll change.
