Unibok Posted May 15, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2022 I'm here in Kusadasi, Turkey, on the Spirit ... and the Silver Wind docked next to us this morning, an unscheduled stop apparently. Anyone know why?
cruiseej Posted May 16, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2022 The Wind's first post-renovation cruise is scheduled for May 28 from Piraeus (Athens). It's been anchored in Souda, Crete until late last week. It's still docked in Kusadasi today, and is expected back in Souda later this week. I'm guessing the ship is in a shakedown/training/provisioning phase getting the ship and crew ready to serve passengers at the end of next week.
Rare clarky Posted May 18, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2022 We will be on the cruise on the 28th of May and I'm happy to hear that they will be ready for all the guests. I still can't believe we will actually be taking a cruise after so long. We are on for 45 days and I will be posting here on this board about our experience. We have sailed the Wind a couple of times so it will be interesting to see all the new improvements.

I'm kind of paralyzed now that I actually need to remember how to pack for a long trip.

Anyone know why? Could have been a dry run or charter, to shake out any problems. As of now, its back in Crete but tied up to a different dock. We will check her out at the end of June and see what's changed from the last time we sailed.
cruiseej Posted May 18, 2022 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2022 I don't think it was a charter, since it had been sitting in Souda harbor for awhile, sailed to Kusadasi, and then sailed back to Souda. She's scheduled to arrive in Piraeus on the 24th, in advance of passengers boarding on the 28th. Looking forward to hearing reports from those aboard the first sailing.
cruiseej Posted May 24, 2022 #10 Share Posted May 24, 2022 The Wind is docked today in Piraeus, presumably preparing to board passengers on Saturday for her return to cruising after a 26 month pause for Covid and ice-class makeover. We were scheduled to be on the Wind in Antarctica in December 2020, and then again in December 2021, but both cruises were canceled. We're booked on the same cruise in December 2022 and hoping the third time will be the charm — but the holiday cruise to South Georgia Island was switched to the Cloud for this year, so after all my obsessive following of the Wind for the past several years, we won't even sail on her when we go to Antarctica this winter! Hopefully the changes Silversea made to the Wind based on what they learned from the Cloud's earlier conversion will make for excellent expedition cruising for years to come.
