darknightsdespiser Posted May 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2022 I am sure I read that this was the day I could book dining and theatre shows etc but nothing seems to show them, am I missing something?
cruise saint Posted May 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2022 When is your cruise? I think you can usually book dining about five weeks before embarkation, but I haven't cruised (yet) since the pandemic so things may have changed.
kalos Posted May 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2022 Speciality dining "You can book a table in our speciality restaurants up to 14 days before your holiday and you’ll enjoy exclusive pre-cruise savings when you book ahead. (Prices shown include savings.)"
david63 Posted May 20, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2022 The booking of select dining venues is available 14 days pre cruise. It appears that the booking of entertainment might be being phased out as you certainly do not need to have booked to go to any of the shows - this is on Britannia, other ships may be different.
RaspberryCremeBrulee Posted May 20, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2022 It was 6 or 7 days prior to our Aurora cruise before we could book select dining. Theatre was available to book for 3 evenings about 14 days before cruise. Although it suggests you can book live music, guest speakers etc., when you look they all say bookable onboard. BrianI Posted May 20, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2022 It used to be the case that you could not use on board credit for any booking made before departure. Has this changed? Brian

vitrocmax Posted May 21, 2022 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2022 OBC is what it says - on board credit. So can't be used until you're onboard
Fionboard Posted May 21, 2022 #9 Share Posted May 21, 2022 However, if you book before boarding your Peninsular discount applies, but not if you are on board using your obc.

That argument always makes me laugh, I would love to have enough OBC to cover all my onboard spend, and would be very happy to forego my 10% discount.

We had a significant amount of OBC on one cruise due to booking quite late and had more than enough for all our onboard spend! I bought some perfume to use it all up.

david63 Posted May 21, 2022 #14 Share Posted May 21, 2022 Also remember that booking select dining before boarding the ship is 20% cheaper (and Peninsular discount off) than booking onboard 1

Only if your OBC will cover all your onboard spend, including anything you want to pre book, would it worthwhile waiting until on board to make all your bookings. If not the cost of anything else above your OBC would be subject to your discount, whichever way you book.
Fionboard Posted May 23, 2022 #20 Share Posted May 23, 2022 My obc never lasts for the whole cruise so on the rare occasions I want to do an excursion I pre book to get 10% off. Prefer to keep my obc for cocktails, etc!
Rare Megabear2 Posted May 23, 2022 #21 Share Posted May 23, 2022 Just been "encouraged" by email to book excursions etc for my October Iona cruise. Logging in I now have a new banner as follows: "As your safety and well-being is our top priority, we have enhanced measures in place, including reduced capacity online dining reservations. You will be able to make reservations from 24th September 2022." Intrigued I've checked all my Britannia reservations - nothing but my Arvia 22/12/2023 booking has a similar banner. Seems a bit odd. This made me ponder as to how I might attract enough OBC to cover costs for my 14 night cruise. Even booking the highest grade of suite when I travelled with my cousin we only attracted £600. Just curious do P&O ever dish out vast amounts of OBC? Emma

Just curious.
