Need for visa to Australia if leaving same day as arrival

Yes you need a ETA or visa you need to clear customs , you will be detained otherwise and deported, and a nice fine.

I am led to believe you will also need a Maritime Traveller's Declaration. There is no charge for this and it needs to be completed online a few days before boarding the ship.
