Let's just say that this was no ordinary lobster roll. It was massive, and packed with lobstery goodness... After tip, and a bottle of water, this cost me fifty bucks, but it was worth it... The prices went up again. I paid 20 this winter. I am full afterwards, Rhen I go to The Rum Bar,

And I will agree to disagree with your view. But only after I discovered how crazy it is to try to pass dishes in a wheelchair and/or scooter. I have had to put my nice clean hands on many peoples dishes to make room to get by in hallways. Hotel hallways are usually wider. Usually.
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1106 Share Posted June 2, 2022 Now, let's get back to my day in Key West, and the margaritas at The Old Town Mexican Cafe. I had read that this is the place to go for good and strong margaritas, so of course I had to see for myself. First up, the Herraduera Ultra Top Shelf Margarita... ($18)

Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1108 Share Posted June 2, 2022 It was pretty good, and strong... Better than the ones that I've been drinking on the ship for sure... Next, I wanted to try their Diamond Margarita. ($19) Looks exactly like the other one, but not quite as strong. They measured the very expensive Casa Dragones tequila carefully...
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1109 Share Posted June 2, 2022 The Captain just came on the pa system and said that we won't be going to Bimini now, and instead will head over to Nassau... Looks like another sea day for me, as I can't stand it there. I was so looking forward to hitting up Joe's Conch Shack again... Shucks!
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1110 Share Posted June 2, 2022 Once I finished those two expensive margaritas, I started walking again... Of course, you all know about the chickens that run wild in Key West...

Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1112 Share Posted June 2, 2022 And, now I'd been all the way down the island and back, and I was right back to mile marker zero again.
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1113 Share Posted June 2, 2022 I was getting hungry again by this point, so I decided to stop by the food truck where I ate five years ago when I was here. Garbo's Grill, of Diner's Drive In's and Dive's game... It sits in an alley behind another restaurant, but they're much more famous than the brick and mortar location where they reside.
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1114 Share Posted June 2, 2022 I got the cayo fish tacos, which have a huge chunk of fish, along with cabbage and mango.
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1115 Share Posted June 2, 2022 Now, at this point, I'm full, half drunk, and I just started walking again up towards Mallory Square.
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1116 Share Posted June 2, 2022 There was another place that I'd read about that supposedly had great and strong margaritas, El Meson De Pepe. So, of course I paid them a visit...
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1117 Share Posted June 2, 2022 The bartender there moved down here in the 90's from Chicago, and never went back. He also poured a really mean margarita. This one with Don Julio Anejo and Grand Marnier... ($16) But, these ended up to be wayyy stronger than the one's at the Mexican place. (Spoiler alert: I ended up having two)
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1118 Share Posted June 2, 2022 By now, I was DEFINITELY feeling good, so I went to harass the chickens... Not really, I just took pictures.

Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1120 Share Posted June 2, 2022 Now, I'm almost back to the ship. Feeling good, full of lobster and tacos. Next, this giant pelican lands in my way. 8

Rare sid_9169 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #1123 Share Posted June 2, 2022 And, that pretty much concludes my walkabout in Key West. I did buy a couple of tshirts to add to my collection, and a couple of shot glasses for the guys at work. I don't have much left in the tank right now after my late night and early morning. I'll probably call it a night soon, and I haven't even had a single drink on the ship today other than my four dollar Americano. I did spend about $160 today on shore, but I had a good time. That's what vacation is for isn't it? I am sorta bummed that we aren't going to Bimini now, as I was looking forward to the conch salad again. No offense to the Nassau lovers, it's just not my thing...

odie1024 Posted June 3, 2022 #1125 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Great tour and pictures of Key West, have only visited twice by cruise ship and the last time was probably 15 years ago. It is listed as 1 of our ports on the cruise I just booked for February so hopefully will be there again. I did bookmark a couple of pages, margaritas, lobster roll and key lime pie for future reference.
