Will you have the possibility of seeing the "Northern lights" in Fairbanks?  That would be amazing. There is a website aurorahunter.com that gives predictions.  Cherie

We are less than 3 weeks away from summer solstice, so there is sunshine 24/7 right now.  It has to be dark to see the aurora borealis.

When we did this itinerary maybe 4-5 years ago in August we had two groups (A and B) each with a journey host.  Each group had enough travelers to fill one bus.  Our bus had a bear painted on the side, the other a whale so we always knew which one to board.  There were also different Yukon itineraries going to and from the cruise.  Amazing how well HAL has organized the cruise tours.  How many people are traveling on your bus?

Love the pictures, you are fortunate to have great weather.

Past few days were very busy, but perfectly organised by HAL.

Flights from Vancouver to Whitehorse was with Air North on a 737, a regular flight, flights from Whitehorse to Dawson and Dawson to Fairbanks were also on a 737 with Air North but chartered by HAL, so only our group of 34, including our journey host.

We did a Top of the Dome tour in Dawson the first evening to a viewpoint over Dawson with a great guide from Yorkshire of all places.

Second day in Dawson we did the Tombstone Park tour, Alexi was our guide with great knowledge of all of the plants and other fauna. Beautiful park, only letdown was the limited hiking. Alexi also doubled as one of the dancers in Diamond Tooth Gerties!

Manny of the locals in Dawson are in fact jack of all trades, one of our luggage handlers also was a sled musher, owned an ice cream shop and also did our security scan when boarding the plane to Fairbanks.

Today, after a short hop, we arrived in Fairbanks Alaska, clock went back an hour, so extra time to enjoy Fairbanks.

On our flight, we had a great view of Mount Denali, so that has a check in the box!

Immigration went smooth and we were quick in the Westmark hotel, where our rooms were not ready yet.

We decided to walk over to the Pioneer Park, a free entrance park where buildings of Fairbanks past are relocated.

A very nice open air museum, worth a visit!

Pioneer Park

Park is free of entrance, some parts are at a fee, or a voluntary donation.

There is a nice display of Fairbanks and Alaska aerial history.

Fairbanks Westmark Hotel

Large, nice hotel, again large rooms, coffee maker, fridge and enough comfort.

Good WiFi too!
