Cpw221 Posted June 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2022 We received an upgrade offer today to move from Deck 2 ocean view to Deck 8 Balcony on Sunshine for $150! Great, right? My only concern is I am a ridiculously light sleeper, and it appears room 8271 is under the lido restaurant, and close to the Havannah Bar nightclub. Anyone in or near that room that could put my mind at ease about noise? TIA
haehaehaley Posted June 1, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) Hi! We might be on the same cruise haha I also got same upgrade deal on sunshine today, however, when I clicked further into the deal it actually let me pick from almost anywhere on the ship of where I wanted my balcony to be so you might be able to look further at a different location if you’re worried about the noise level Edited June 1, 2022 by haehaehaley
csm5986142 Posted June 1, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2022 I would be very cautious being under the lido/restaurant. We were once under the deli (which really is not that noisy) but what I had not considered, is that they are constantly pushing carts loaded down with dishes back and forth through that area and that was loud enough to wake me up. To be fair, I think we must have been right below a floor or doorway transition because not only did we heard the rolling/rattling cart, but also a loud thump. Nothing I couldn't live with for a week, but I won't book that location again. In regard to the nightclub, we have been in a Havana Cabana fairly close to the club, and could definitely hear it in the hallway, but as soon as we closed our door it was fine. mz-s Posted June 1, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2022 I always want staterooms above and below me if at all possible. However, one cruise we were under the Casino - and despite it being a Premier cruise (didn't know until we got onboard) it was not an issue. I absolutely would not want to be under the night club under any circumstances however. BOOM BOOM BOOM all night. The Havana Bar on Sunshine isn't really a nightclub though. At least, I've never noticed activity there late at night. Maybe I've just never noticed it though.
Cpw221 Posted June 1, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) Thanks for the advice! We have two staterooms to upgrade, as we’re bringing our 18 year old and her friend. I don’t feel comfortable leaving them 6 decks below us. This area on deck 8 has the only midship balcony rooms available. Looking at the deck plans, it appears we’d be directly under the lido restaurant, where there are only tables, but I am afraid of the carts and nightclub noise traveling. Ugh, decisions, decisions! Well the good thing is if it's a good deal it won't be available for long so you won't have much longer to fret over it.
gazingm42 Posted June 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2022 We were under the lido deck once, only once. I only have about 30% hearing and don't wear my hearing devices at night, at the noice was very noticeable until about 1am. I would not do it myself. We are now very careful to look at the room locations above and below us now.
Rare lazydayz Posted June 2, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2022 I would NOT do this. The noise factor would weigh against the upgrade.
ray98 Posted June 2, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2022 You sure you cannot select a different cabin? My last offer pulled up a specific cabin but if you clicked around there were a few different options.
haehaehaley Posted June 2, 2022 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2022 Yes I agree with ray98 above. I received an upgrade offer this morning and once I clicked on the offer I was able to select a different cabin.

The only options on deck 7 were all the way at the back of the boat (couldn’t do that bc Daughter gets terrible sea sickness in Aft areas). Since we have 2 cabins with kids, we needed to be close together. Under the dining area of Lido were the only choices. I even called in and spoke with someone, they verified those were our only options for the upgrade. 🥴 We still took the offer, and I guess I’ll be bringing Ambien to sleep! 🤞

Pyxie Posted June 3, 2022 #13 Share Posted June 3, 2022 I've been under lido (area with tables) and had no issues at all.

The last cruise we did we were under the kitchen. I realized before we left that there would be noise. It ended up not bothering us but it could be loud at times. I wondered what they were doing to make so much noise. They dropped a lot of heavy stuff.
