39august Posted February 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2006 Am I correct that the King Kamahamaha Hotel is very near the cruise pier in Kona and that there is a nice beach there? Can someone please advise whether there is any natural shade near or on this beach. I am not into baking in the sun for hours!
RvrCrzr Posted February 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2006 The hotel is right past the pier, and the small beach is just to the left of it facing shore. There are palm trees lining the sand. (I had to check my pictures)
Spikesgirl Posted February 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2006 There's really not much beach in Kona, but King Kam has one of the best ones in town. Kona does have some incredible wave action though. For dinner, go to the Kona Inn (other end of town) and watch the waves crash against the retaining wall. There's also a big stretch of lawn that is great for the kids (or adults) to run around on while waiting for dinner to arrive. Best fish in town too!:D at least in our opinion. 39august Posted February 28, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Thanks. That will be a back up plan if we don't find an easy way to get to Kahalu'u.
