sportmorgan Posted June 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2022 Sailing Oasis in July. Bought 4 device surf and stream to share between 8 people. Are there locations where the ship sails that are close enough to shore where service (AT@T) would be available if we needed more people to have intermittent access. Not sure how far off the coast cell service goes, though we go offshore fishing on our own boat in Connecticut and never have a problem (but not sure we are ever out more that 20 miles or so). thanks! lynn
LeeW Posted June 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2022 Typically a cell phone connects to the strongest tower, which will be the ship. Unlikely you will be within visual distance of shore once you get beyond the bridge.
Mr. Green Posted June 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2022 You will be far enough away from the coast that the coverage will either be non existent or very spotty that you risk connecting to Cellular at Sea and racking up major charges. You will be better off sharing the 4 device package.

BND Posted June 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2022 (edited) No, you'll be too far to have a connection. We've cruised from Baltimore to PC and once you leave the Bay after an hour or so, there is no signal. In fact, in a lot of places along the Bay, there is no service. You don't cruise close enough to land to even see it when going down the coast out of Bayonne after you're at sea for a bit.
