Is That All There Is ?

Another important tip we learned this morning chatting with hostess Anna about the correct ship's time, since our iphones and computers do not automatically change along with the ship. The correct time is found on every phone in every cabin ONLY when one lifts the receiver off its base and hangs up again.

When sitting out on deck and one hears the European siren sound it means the retractable roof over the Jungle Pool is opening or closing.  It becomes a warning on the pool decks while the sun is shining that the captain could not sail around a rain cloud and one is about to be drenched.

That's good to know. I wonder if that is on all ships. We are going on a TA in October and those times change every day.

This is interesting and just a little academic. The show last night was Amore. Noticed that the two pair of fast dancers was tonight a trio with one male missing. And at last nights early show the audience gave the performers 2 standing ovations, one after "Volare" and at the end after "Time to say Goodbye". CD Dave at the introduction to tonights performance asked that the audience wait for the "surprise" ending which one will not want to miss. Turns out there was no "surprise" ending, just that on prior weeks the audiences have been walking out before the fabulous finale.

No further shows tonight, last night, or the night before in Cabaret Rouge. "Technical difficulties" ?

P.S. This did not stop us from booking onboard another YC cruise on the Seashore. A deposit of $398 total, a Voyager discount 5%, $50 each OBC plus another $200 each OBC for YC cabin, Total $500 obc.

Great helpful information as we prepare to do our first MSC cruise.  Wondering what a good deal for a paid upgrade from balcony to YT club using  our casino offer would be.  Thanks for this helpful info.

I think that the answer to your question might be found in psmarkles post :

"My experience with earning the MSC Casino Dept 30% discount

By psmarkle, May 29" on this same MSC site. These gentlemen and ladies are the resident experts here.

My only addition to the discounts we received from MSC while booking onboard (post. #104). Is that of our getting an additional $500 obc from our Travel Agent when MSC transfers this new booking over to her directly.

With a balcony view like this one of Ocean Cay why bother getting off the ship? (Yes, unless one takes a hour to hit the logo shops on the island). Though I must say that the Yacht Club goes all out to prepare Ocean House, its secluded, guarded enclave on the island exclusive to its YC guests.

Three gangways for Ocean Cay. One for 3000+ exiting passengers in background, a second for returning 3000+ guests, and a third for 300 +-YC guests.

Nice that you don't have to tender to the private island.

Great review.  We will be in the YC on the Seascape in December. Is a cabin on the port or starboard side better for views of a Ocean Cay?  Would love to watch the fireworks show from the comfort of our balcony.

Thanks. We have never seen any "fireworks", just a light show as the lighthouse lights up. Ours tonight was about 5 minutes long at 8:15 pm, all aboard at 8:30 and another coming up at 8:45pm. We hope to be on the Seascape as well and booked the starboard side in anticipation of the captains always 'parking ' the same way. After the first light show, accompanied with music, the lighthouse continues to make a display with no music, pictured below.

We arrived and docked, uneventfully, (no drama of 4 attempts) at Ocean Cay. From our starboard balcony we could enjoy a view of Ocean Cay. Just seeing all the passengers swimming, sunning, milling around from our balcony gave one a sense of all was right with the world again.

Sorry, I meant light show…..fireworks are on another cruise line 😎. Really looking forward to once again enjoying the Yacht Club experience and our first time on Ocean Cay.

At 8:44 a bell  tolled from the PA on shore, signaled the start of the second lighthouse show. It lasted 6 minutes with music. As the last 15 seconds approached the end of the lighthouse show, the ropes were unfastened and we began our departure from this beautiful island paradise.

Noticed while waiting to leave the ship this morning one family was required by US officials to be cleared first before anyone else. We were told that the family missed the ship embarkation day, took a flight to pick up ship at next port of call and needed to be processed by US immigration upon return by the ship. Resulting in a 15 minute delay.

The hardest part of the entire cruise was self driving out of the port, even with GPS.

😀  I understand.  I chose US 1 to Fort Lauderdale before I got on I-95.  I was happy with my decision.

Once on I95 North, DW turned to me and said this was probably the best cruise time we ever had. I had to agree... This is all there is ....

....until your next one!

Wonderful pictures!  There have been posters who have "complained" but how short the lighthouse show with music is.  So what?  Is there another comparable cruise experience on any private island that matches that?  These folks seem to miss the fact that the light show continues for awhile after the music ends.
