steel1203 Posted June 12, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2022 Hello, I am looking at a 10 day cruise leaving NY in august 23 and am going round in circles with cabin choices!! Can’t afford Haven, but need 2 cabins one balcony and one inside very close or maybe 2 balcony as not much difference in cost? Got option of large balcony and inside on 8th floor but near the front which I was not keen on due to seasickness issues and then 2 balcony on 9th floor but concerned about noise as restaurants etc on 8th. Also looked at aft cabins but seems to be noise issues. Any Joy experts who can guide me?? Thanks

There are inside cabins as well as balcony cabins very close to one another. Look at the NCL deck plan website. It will even show you connecting cabins. Rare mking8288 Posted June 12, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2022 @steel1203 - unless you go to sleep early, I wouldn't be too worried about balconies on deck 9 above the specialty restaurants, as they close after 9:30 or 10 p.m. at most - cleaning or moving tables/chairs (if any at all, for vacuuming, etc.) are done shortly thereafter, especially with reduced occupancies sailing these days. Do you have the cabin #'s in mind on Deck 9 ? Other "downside" for some is the overhang behind with the lifeboats below, as it could obscure your view directly below ... not an issue for some but for others, maybe. Extreme forward on Deck 8 and even 9 or 10 would, yes, subject to rough sea state and large waves for those concerned with getting seasick, even when sailing north to New England/Canada as there is that wide stretch out in the open North Atlantic. I read your excellent review and helped me seal the deal on this ship - just need to make up my mind regarding cabins! Thinking as I have only stayed on a regular balcony to maybe try aft facing but a few comments putting me off due to noise - maybe take earplugs!! MsTabbyKats Posted June 12, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2022 I was in a "considered mid-ship" but towards forward.....10760. When the ship rocked, it creaked! Otherwise it was very quiet. I wouldn't recommend this cabin or area because of the creaking. It really didn't rock; there were "Haven Reports" of seasickness but we barely felt the movement.

Thanks The only areas of concern on deck 9 would be over the Cavern Club and District Brewhouse since they're late-night venues with music. Just book anything on the starboard side of the ship and you'll be fine. I am prone to seasickness but nevertheless tried a cabin all the way forward...once. Never again.
