katiel53 Posted February 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2006 My husband and I love to go to casinos and are looking forward to going to Aruba again. Last time we played at the Wyndham and the casino next to it. (Can't remember the name.) Both of these were small and we wondered if there are any large casinos with slots in the high rise area. Can anyone give us info? Thanks in advance.
Arubalisa Posted February 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Wyndham, Rui Aruba (closing in May for extensive renovations), Radisson, Hyatt, Holiday Inn & Marriott all have casinos...downtown in Oranjestad, within walking distance of the ships are the Renaissance's Crystal & Seaport Casinos. katiel53 Posted March 1, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted March 1, 2006 Thanks for the information. Do you know which one has the largest casino? I can hardly wait to get there. Where did you live in NJ? I lived in Plainfield many many years ago.
Arubalisa Posted March 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2006 The casinos along Palm Beach are all about the same. I would probably skip the Rui Aruba Grand. Not much of a gambler myself but the Radisson Casino is beautiful with twinkling lights in the ceiling to resembles stars :) If you cannot decide which casino, there is a cement walkway to stroll from casino to casino (think boardwalk made of cement) which connects all of the resorts along Palm Beach with the EXCEPTION of the 3 Marriott resorts. The Marriott's are further down the beach, no walkway, no sidewalk, you just have to walk the beach. I was born and raised in Clifton. Spent my summers in Mantoloking. I lived in Brick Twsp for 16 years before I moved out of state. Moving out of Jersey was not a bad thing :) Moving out of state, we were able to afford life on one income am I now a SAHM to our adopted dd. Have a great trip! We did a partial transit of the canal over Christmas on the Galaxy. Wonderful trip, but I wish I loved cruising as much as I love Aruba :D
mii Posted March 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2006 I have a question about the casnino's. Do they take American money. Specfically the slots. Marilyn
Arubalisa Posted March 1, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2006 Absolutely and positively they will take US dollars. US dollars are accepted all over the island. Most places do not like taking 50's or 100's though..

katiel53 Posted March 2, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted March 2, 2006 ArubaLisa, Thanks again for your information. I think the one I went to was the Aruba Grand but I didn't know there was another name in front of it. I will try a few of them for sure. After leaving NJ, I ended up upstate NY and loved it there except for the winters. We now live in Orlando, Fl and love it here. Thanks again. Carolrd Posted March 3, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 3, 2006 The largest casino in Aruba is at the Marrriott. It was refurbished 2 years ago and is really, really nice. If you plan on spending any time there, make sure you have a sweater, it is freezing in there !!! Carol

motherchic Posted March 12, 2006 #11 Share Posted March 12, 2006 had a fun story. Went to the casinos once in Aruba. Did slots and the money dissappeared very fast. No luck at all. My friend wasnt ready to leave so i just browsed around, saw a nickle slot and put in the highest amt of nickles. First pull I win the jackpot. There is no one coming to help and i have 5 buckets filled with nickles. So while i am standing ther waiting i put the same amount into the machine next to mine and i win the jackpot again!!! My girlfriend finally found me-surrounded by nickles. We got them cashed in and went next door to diamonds international and bought a beautiful bracelet and ring.EASY COME,,EASY GO--- BUT a GREAT MEMORY !!!!
