Butchart Gardens & Victoria

We would like to know the most direct & inexpensive ways to get around Victoria. We want to visit the Butchart Gardens, stay for lunch, hop over to the Marley Winery, a couple of minutes away, & get back by 4:30 to the ship. Any suggestions? I've heart a taxi is about $46, & that there is a bus line. Would anybody have exact information, prices or even websites? Thanks.

Try the Vancouver boards. I know I've seen information there in the past. Am taking a class tonight with a girl from there that is supposed to bring some books. Will ask her about the best way (I need the information as well.)

If you have TIME, the city bus goes right to Butchart Gardens. Is the winery in the same area??

Take the city bus to the gardens if you like then maybe take a cab from there to the winery there is a winery near the gardens but I don't know the name. If it was me I would take a cab from the winery back to town just to be sure to get back on time.

We've done the city bus from downtown area to Butchart several times but never while on a cruise with the time table (we've ferryed to Victoria from Washington or Vancouver, and then did public transport). I'd agree that if you want to try, I'd do it one-way and taxi back. We did taxi both ways our last time while cruising through there and it was not outrageous. There are tourist buses from downtown but with three of us, it was less expensive with the taxi!

Be aware that if you plan to take a taxi from the Gardens back to the pier, there aren't always taxi's waiting at the Gardens. You may have to wait for one so don't wait until the last minute to leave.
