question about Panorama cruise, Feb. 11, 2023

Good morning all. We're a couple of age 60+ retirees, and have only been on one Carnival cruise (so far); to the Caribbean the 2nd week of February. I was a little nervous because everyone told me that it would be a crazy party vibe. It was fine, no more of a party vibe than NCL or Royal. Carnival had the friendliest passengers I've ever met.

Now I'm thinking of booking a Mexican Riviera cruise, also the second week of February for next year. So, my question is, how crazy an atmosphere should I expect this trip to be?

Thanks.

You'll be fine, spring break is more March. The average age on Panorama is much higher than people think, even during spring break as California is very expensive and not young folk friendly (cost wise). We had a few younger groups that were onboard during spring break and they were lively, not ridiculous. Outside of spring break, the average age is probably 40-50 and will drop closer to 35-40 during sprint break. Plus, you just don't really get the crazy like you do on the 3/4 day "section 8 cruises" that the on-board comedians routinely make fun of 😆 . Panorama is chill, I would cruise on her anytime/any season and not think twice, yes, even smack dab in the middle of spring break, which I have. The football cruises are just an extra fun bonus!

I went that exact week this year.  I am a 60 year old retired, travels solo.  This was my favorite cruise ever!  Peacefull and I met wonderful people, very few children.  However, I must qualify this with the ship was sailing at a 50% capacity then…. I would expect 100% next year, that might make a difference.

That's exactly how my Caribbean cruise was on Freedom, same week.

Thanks. I think I'll opt for a Havana aft balcony which means I'll be able to avoid some of the Lido deck craziness.

There won't be craziness per se, shenanigans, good times and possibly some twerking in/near lido pool? Most definitely! Some would classify that as craziness, I would simply call it a great time lol. It's really only on sea days also. The DJ plays a good mix of music for everyone too, it's mostly middle aged folks that have the numbers, followed by older folks and then youngsters. It's quite nice actually and everyone vibes and groves to the eclectic mix (classic country, young country, hip hop/rap, R&B, old school, Latin/reggaeton etc). Havana is super quit, too quiet for a lot of people as it can be a ghost town back there. There will also be no TV so watching the big game from back there is out. Heroes bar or lido will be your best shot and the energy is awesome (did a playoff championship in 2020 on her and it was a blast). kids are usually on the slides, at the kids club or doing other onboard activities, they don't really just hangout on lido (though a few will be in the pool) so that won't be a big problem either. I'll actually be on a few weeks before you, hopefully watching the games on lido also!

It will be fine. We have done that cruise many times, but only once on Panorama. Pride once, Splendor twice and Miracle twice or thrice when they were here.

My wife's birthday is in February, so...

Heads up on weather. Since the port calls have been flipped, it is going to be chilly until mid dayish Sunday on the way down. Then the last seaday, after Cabo, probably going to be chilly.

Nothing that a sweatshirt can't take care of.

So sad that the Casino bar has been removed.

Try JiJi's. Best food for the money anywhere!
