Call to upgrade?

My sailing is coming up and I've noticed that many of the rooms in the category above mine are unsold at this point. I'm in a yacht club interior room and there are many yacht club deluxe balcony rooms still available. I've never sailed on MSC before, would ut be worth a try to call and see if I could get upgraded? (I assume there'd be a change involved and I'm 100% okay woth that as long as its not obscenly expensive) Just wondering if anyone else has had success with that in the past. thanks!

I just did this yesterday as we never got the email offering an upgrade, and our favorite cabin (which was one category higher than what we booked) was still open. We sail Sunday, so time was of the essence. I worked with a really nice phone rep- but they were my second call. The first rep I had wasn't very informed and tried to charge me 2k for the upgrade. I hung up and called again. My second really nice person...385. I think the first person just needed more training to be honest. So...yes...it can be done but I'd strongly encourage you to get someone who sounds confident in what they are doing.

Remember that there are lots of folks bidding for those cabins - make sure that you have signed up for email communications as I've never heard of someone calling to get an upgrade.  From my understanding any paid for upgrade would be at the fare difference between your booked cabin and desired cabin as it was at the time you booked.

I agree.  I booked a YC interior on the Seashore and the next day got an offer to bid on a YC balcony for $735 per person and up!  I’d love to be able to call them and get that for $385 ea!  I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try as this was the first time I used that my Vegas app 30% off deal and I’m working with the casino concierge rep.
