4 person cabin…upper berth

We have a 4 person suite booked, our kids are too young to be in a room by themselves. Would the upper berth automatically be down and made up at embarkation or is it something we have to request when we see our steward? I don’t necessarily think we plan to use the top berth so I may not ask for it unless we 100% decide to use it and I don’t want the steward to waste their time making it if we don’t want it. I see the option to request a king/twins in our cruise planner but nothing about the other berths.

Are you in a quad cabin, or suite?  What ship?

We’re in an ocean suite on Mardi Gras. It sleeps 4. But my kids are little and I think they’d be more than happy together on the couch made up as a bed.
