If the cruise arrives in Dubai on Friday morning but disembarking is not officially until Saturday morning…. Can you actually disembark any time on Friday….?   If so, Do you have to get prior permission ?

 Thanks

I recently asked to jump that 1st night in Dubai for this coming April to catch another of their sailings from Jeddah and was told........mayby, probably, ask a week or two out.   It seems covid has caused a few wrinkles but things are getting better. Also depends on immigration availability is available.

So yes you need permission.  I have done it pre covid many times.

Keep in mind to make sure you you have info on your possible visa requirements. Are you just a transit or are you staying. Just read the rules.

They will tell you that you need to haul off your own luggage.

We had the same situation earlier this year on Virtuosa. We had a 2am flight so had dinner and then left the ship on the Friday night to go to the airport. We were in Yacht Club and told them we would be leaving at that time. I don't recall having to jump through any hoops or get special permission. We just did it as a courtesy and to let them know we didn't need our room making up that night. They asked us to call them for help getting off the ship with our luggage but we really didn't need all the faff of being escorted off so just took our own luggage off.

Yes, you can disembark on Friday if you want to and I don't recall needing any advance permission. Just get off and go. And if you want to get off Friday night and head to the airport for a Friday night/early in the morning Saturday flight, please be aware that there are taxis outside the cruise terminal at all hours.

How???

No immigration is available after midnight in Saudi at the port.

You are free to come and go as a port visit. You need to sign a paper that states you are ending your voyage early and you are not getting any money back for ending early.

You are also required at that time to settle your account.

They must give you a final bill.

They also must deactivate your card at gang plank kiosk so it closes theirs manifest.

Not only is disembarking the first day of an overnight Dubai stop possible, it is highly recommended.

Dubai Airport is open 24/7, so passengers are disembarking all night long.

I learned this the hard way. I got virtually no sleep as very loud passengers, from one country in particular, roamed the halls. Of course, I wouldn't think of naming the country, as that would be unfair. But their slamming of doors and cries of "Auf Wiedersehen!" kept me up all night.
