Port Day Ship Activities

We are planning Solstice 2 Sept and we had only selected one shore excursion way back when they first opened them and it got canceled.  We tried booking a few different excursions and the same thing.  I have been reading articles on line that Alaska just cannot get enough technically trained staff for a lot of the shore excursions so they either have to cut back the offerings or cancel it all together.

A few years ago we did HAL to the Mexican Riviera, which is a been there done that list of ports.  We just kicked it back on port days and enjoyed the quiet relaxing ship.  The pools and spas were not crowded, nor was the buffet.  We could curl up somewhere with a nice book and read in peace and quiet.  We did notice that ship activities were practically none during port days, then again with HAL there weren't a lot of sea day ship activities.  Not even live entertainment stuck in a corner.  Demographics are a little different on HAL.  Being in my early 50's and DH in his late 40's, we leaned towards the younger end of the demographics.

How is Celebrity on board activities on port days?  Shops and casino are closed I know.

The there are very few activities during port days.  If your ship is scheduled to depart at 5 there may be trivia at 4 or 4:30.  But in our experience pretty quiet and much of the crew gets a few hours off.

Yes, it's pretty quiet and along the lines of what you've experienced on HAL. There probably will be a movie or two. Things might pick up more in the afternoon, and there may be some music.

Oh my goodness, I grew up in old Bellaire.  I lived near Evergreen park.
