Confirmed itinerary change for August 7th Discovery sailing

We're on the Discovery out of Seattle on August 7th.  Tonight, we received an email from Princess confirming that our stop in Skagway has been replaced by a stop in Sitka.  Not surprised, but disappointed.  We were holding out hope that something would be arranged that would still allow us to make the stop in Skagway.  I am glad, however, that they notified us of the change now rather than waiting until we're on the ship.

Any ideas of things to see or do in Sitka???

We are on the Discovery Princess on Aug 14. No word yet what we will do? I am assuming we will go to Sitka. Frustrating because once they announce the change, we want to be able to book an excursion right away in Sitka before they are sold out. It is very helpful to go to YOUTUBE and watch the latest videos from passengers going there. It shows the cruise port being 20 minutes from town with complimentary shuttle and LONG lines to get on one. So we would rather take an excursion with transportation.

We're on the Aug 7th Discovery sailing out of Seattle. Got the itinerary change notice late last night, but as of this morning, there are no excursions listed for Sitka for our date. Hoping it is just a system issue and they'll get it updated soon so we can book something for Sitka.

We loved Sitka.  We enjoyed the Bishops house.  Very interesting.  And the church was al so nice.  Everything that we saw was in walking distance from the pier that we were at.

If you like wildlife I can highly recommend the Otters, Raptors and Bears excursion.  We did it a couple of years ago and loved it.  You will be on a boat for part of the excursion to see whales, otters and perhaps some seals and eagles.  We saw them all.  Then on to the Raptor sanctuary and finally the Bear sanctuary.  Someone posted an excursion sheet on FB that they received last week and it's still being offered.

Doubtful. Got notice of my itinerary change on Crown (due to propulsion issues, not the Skagway rockslide issue) on July 22 and still waiting for Icy Strait Point excursions to be posted.
