I believe Sky Princess is/was the current flagship,

A.though Discovery and Enchanted have joined the fleet since Sky.

Perhaps Princess just designate the newest ship as the flag ship..

Without getting into an argument about aesthetics , I do think a flag ship should at least look like a ship, which leaves Iona and Arvia out of the running.

As an aside, do other lines have a flagship   - I don't recal Princess, HA etc having one.

The Princess flagship appears to be Sky Princess, NCLs is Norwegian Encore and RCI seems to move it to their newest ship. I am fairly certain other lines do the same and they all seem to have their senior Captain named as Commodore.

However I dont agree that Iona or Arvia don't look like a ship.

With such a large and comparatively less diverse (to P&O) fleet, I guess there isn't a stand-out candidate for Princess...

Originally a flagship would be the ship in a naval group which carries the Commanding Officer.

This is why you often get the Commodore on the flagship, as the Commodore ranks above a Captain. but below a Rear Admiral.

Do you know for certain that Arvia will be the flagship? On our recent Britannia cruisr the Captain referred to Britannia as the fleet flagship, even though Iona has been in service for the last 12 months.

Well not being the fittest I flagged after a couple of circuits of the deck so from my point of view they are all flag ships. Good job there's a nice sunbed or cabin to have a snooze in the afternoon but I tend to make that noise like a pig and wake myself up.
