radarcruiser Posted August 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2022 It seems like all of a sudden last weekend inventory dried up on several cruises we were looking at. Could it be that Royal is holding back pending new protocol announcement? Is it possible non-vaxxed cruisers would have to pay more for their cabins? Or maybe pay for testing every couple of days? A new revenue stream?

A new revenue stream? As it stands today, Non-vaxxed people age 12 or older will not be able to board any RCL ship sailing out of the U.S. This is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future even if the pre-cruise testing requirements are modified or dropped. nelblu Posted August 3, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2022 Although the preliminary announced target of 80%/20% may allow more unvaxxed to be able to sail.

On our 5-night Mariner cruise (got off on Saturday), according to the Restaurant Services Manager there were ~1,100 children on board out of the total passenger count of ~3,600, so they may already be close to the 80/20 split even though all adults and children 12 or older were still required to be fully vaccinated in order to sail. IMHO, people are conflating the 80/20 statement with an as yet unarticulated plan (all that exists is a vague and easily misinterpreted tweet from Bayley) to drop vaccination requirements
