Sail & Sustain Mixology Experience

If anyone has done this, how would you describe the sail & sustain beverages offered?

I ask this because I have seen drinks listed in the daily's referred to as "sustainable" cocktails.  They are made with leftover food (such as yesterday's croissants, etc.) as an ingredient and somehow that does not sound like something that I even want to try. Yuck.

I would hate to waste a spot someone else could book if that is the case, since I would have to abstain.

We enjoyed this event and were the only ones that attended.  They had 12 spots available and lasted about 1 hour.  There are 8 drinks to sample with a card in front of them listing the ingredients.  The bartenders explain and show you the different leftover food that the drinks are made from.  I was surprised how good they all tasted.  At the end they offer you a full glass of your favorite one.

I'm just approaching Sapphire so not even close, but I'm curious about this - my first guess was left over pastries as palette cleansers between drinks, but listed as ingredients suggests something else. Is it fruits/olives/onions that were cut up the day before?

Thank you BSR.  That is pretty much what I assumed, but had not heard anyone report on actually experiencing this new activity.

I was not inferring that they were "serving rotten food" Coastal. Just being realistic that it is food that is being recycled from it's original purpose.

I prefer to eat my food and drink my liquor without any food in it except, as herbanrenewal mentioned, with fruit/olives/onions and maybe a stalk of celery.

Just my own preference and BSR totally answered my question.

I wandered up to the bar while they were doing a tasting of the drinks for some new officers on the Getaway and they let me join in, never saw it as an option to book though.

The leftover food is used to make things like infusions, syrups, or garnishes like flavored salt/sugar for the rims. Nice program overall IMO, and if I see it as an option for something to do on a sea day I'd book it.

@Sea saw 56  You should give it a try as the drinks were very good.  My 2 favorite drinks:

Cucumber Cool: Wheatley Craft Distilled Vodka, St. Elder Liqueur, Cucumber Pulp, Cordial, Lemon Juice.

Cafe Replay: Skyy Vodka, Chinola Passion Fruit Liqueur, Spent Coffee Ground Cordial, Lemon Juice, Angostura Bitters.

Bold is the leftover food.
