cfelbab Posted August 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Hi friends- We're going on a cruise in middle September on the Jade out of Athens. It looks like the current rules are that you have to get a test (even if vaccinated) within 48 hours of the boarding. Does anybody know if there is an option to test at the airport in Athens after getting off the plane and before heading to our hotel? We are arriving the day before the cruise so it does not look like it will work out for us to test before we board our flight in the USA (which of course would have been preferred in the event of a positive test)? Can you just walk up and get the appropriate test needed to be approved to cruise or do you have to schedule something? Are there testing options at the cruise port or any other options that are predictable and reliable?
hallux Posted August 9, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2022 Why not take one of the eMed proctored tests with you (one for each of you) in your carry-on bag and do the proctored test in your hotel room?
casofilia Posted August 9, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2022 @cfelbab I asked the hotel we are staying at in Athens and they said that they have a "tame" doctor who will go to the hotel to do any test for us. Yours may have one too. OR they may tell you where to get one done close to the hotel. HTH Mike
cfelbab Posted August 9, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted August 9, 2022 At least according to NCL's website, Greek authorities will not accept a proctored test. We used eMed back in April for a cruise on the Encore but that does not appear to be an option for this cruise. It needs to be in person and take place within 48 hours of the embarking.
