patrinka Posted August 15, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2022 For those that have done the Nile river cruise and possibly extensions to Jordan did you get foreign currency for both countries? I have read some reviews that stated in Egypt they used US$ (new bills and small denominations). If that is correct, would I still need a small amount of Egypt pound? Also read in Jordan we will need the Dinan?? Thoughts? Thank you!
Rare jpalbny Posted August 16, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2022 Visited 10 years ago so your experience may be different, but... Yes, I did get cash from an ATM for both. We needed dinars to buy the visa upon arrival at the airport in Amman, but they handily had a place to exchange currency right there so I exchanged for Dinars, and bought the visa stamp. Egypt wanted USD for their visa upon arrival.
Rare beanpittsburgh Posted August 16, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2022 Was in Jordan 8 years ago and they accepted USD and Israeli Shekel. Of course, change will be given in Dinars.
Rare franski Posted August 16, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2022 We had Local currency for all places …. Got some Egyptian pounds before we left - and then money for Israel & Jordan via ATM when we arrived in each country (we were there just before Covid shut the world down…). We did an e-visa for Egypt before we left - very easy to do and then arrival was smooth. Our host for Jordan did a group visa do didn’t have to worry about it.
