eddieg07410 Posted August 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2022 We will be taking the Viking Orion to Sydney in early March. We are wondering if the opera house is open at this time and if so how soon can we book tickets. We noticed the calendar only goes up to the December 31, presently. Rare arxcards Posted August 16, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2022 It will be open, but I don't know if any shows or what type of genre will be on at that time. The calendar I am looking at has a couple of different shows in early Feb, and another in late March. I would expect that more events will start to fill the calendar as it gets closer. Rare MicCanberra Posted August 16, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2022 https://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/events/tours-and-experiences.html Not sure what else is on but Madama Butterfly is on in later March
buchhalm Posted August 16, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2022 Mic is right. Madama Butterfly will be on from March 24, 2023. However not IN the Opera House, but on a floating stage on the harbour nearby. That will be an Opera Australia (the company that performs in the SOH and other venues around Australia) production. Apart from that, there are bugger all performances on the calendar yet. Guided tours should still be going ahead. At times where there aren't any shows on, the tours are actually great, because you are more likely to be shown inside the theatres and/or backstage areas. Naturally they don't show you these parts when performances or rehearsals are on.
