Live review - “Free”dom of the seas 8/19/22

Ds and I will be sailing this weekend on freedom of the seas on a quick 3 nighter Bahamas getaway.

 

This was a comped cruise through casino royale, upgraded from an ocean view to a balcony for about 350 including port fees which seemed like a no brainer.

 

This will be my first cruise with the key and more importantly my first cruise as diamond. Hope you all join along and feel free to ask questions along the way!

Will be flying in Thursday and staying at the Miami airport Marriott, picked up a killer deal on our room:

Since the ds is under 5 I decided to pick up the ultimate dining package since he will be able to eat with me. We’re planning on doing Giovanni’s each night so I hope you like Italian food pictures.

Since ds is under 5 but partially vaccinated we had to do a proctored Covid test, he got a negative result so we’re cleared to go!

Bid on all of the upgrade options, just got 5 emails like this below, guessing no luck for royal up.

My wife and I will be onboard as well!  It's our first casino cruise as well.  By far the shortest cruise we've taken, but we are looking forward to the experience.  Likely to run into you at Giovanni's!

we'll be boarding Aug 29, please post who the captain is! We're flying Delta too, hope we get a complimentary upgrade to Comfort+ but more importantly, I hope Delta is on time as we're going down embarkation day. We're only bringing carry-on, don't want to mess yet with lost luggage.

Alright so I figured out why the room was so cheap, the air conditioning was seriously lacking. It’s been on the uncomfortable side of warm since we got here although I set the ac to 60.

 

The room includes a hot breakfast in the concierge lounge so once we both wake up that’s where we’re heading.

Full hot breakfast included in the price of the room, further justifying that 220 a night for this room was an insane deal.

 

breakfast was in the concierge room on the first level, unlimited canned soda or bottled juice. Had coffee, yogurt teas, etc. Hot buffet with eggs bacon etc as well as an omelet and waffle station.

 

no one left hungry from our table.

Lyft prices seem to be a few bucks cheaper than Ubers at the moment, we’ll check again before we try and leave.

 

With a 10:30 checkin we’ll plan to leave around 10:15 and go from there.

Since this is my first cruise as diamond it didn’t make sense to get the booze package considering we get 4 drinks per person per day.  Since the drinks will not be free flowing it was only fitting to have a send off cocktail in the room:
