Is Celebrity still offering foreign currency exchange & if so, what is the euro exchange rate?

Just got off the Beyond.  They do offer exchange but not at favorable rates.  Offered Euro to USD for 1.13.  Go to a local ATM.

Do you have an ATM card? Just pull Euros from an ATM. Easier and a better rate.

A 10% commission? Jesus. That's pretty horrendous.

 

Also, that will keep me from doing any noteworthy casino play next month. The onboard currency is still USD and the cruise will be EU only, meaning any funds would be given to me in USD and I'd then have the burden of changing it into Euro at a favorable rate to deposit it with my bank. Apparently they no longer offer to wire to your U.S. bank account.

That exchange rate is not good, my US bank gives me the official exchange rate plus a US$25 flat fee. Not bad if you exchange a $1,000.

Not a great exchange rate. Kind of the same as airport and many exchanges and Cambios and such in various ports.

 

I guess Celebrity isnt in the banking business..

 

Yup, we use our charge cards that dont carry extra fees or transfer to US$  for purchase and Debit card at ATMs when cash is needed. Usually have our local bank send is $100 or $200 worth prior for cash as needed early on. 

 

Was doing a Bucharest to Budapest river cruise and got Romanian Leu’s….then cnx due to the Pandemic and havent run into anyone going there yet! Oh well. Only kid on the block with Leu’s!
