I'm curious....doesn't Budget offer free pickup at the pier? I'm wondering why they didn't do that for you.

They might; I didn’t even ask about it. Cars were so scarce then that I was just glad to have a reservation at all and was worried it might get cancelled for any small reason, so didn’t want to push anything. Hopefully rental cars will be more plentiful next summer

I understand. We paid in advance to assure a car would be held.
