MamaParrotHead Posted March 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Looking at a Triumph cruise, either 4/14 or 4/28, and want to avoid all the kids. Thanks!
Riley's Mom Posted March 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2006 My childrens schools have spring break starting this coming Monday ,March 13th for the entire week. We live in Texas..All school districts are a little different. Colleges also have different spring breaks. Our cruise in on April 23th..Hopefully all spring breaks will be over before then. HeidiHo Posted March 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2006 You're probably safer going with the later date. Easter is late this year and 4/14 may still have spring breakers who usually get the week after Easter off.
hockeyajs Posted March 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Spring break times vary upon schools. College kids --our university's break is 3/13-3/17. My children, spring break falls the first week of April.

F5Loar Posted March 2, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2006 You have to figure in college spring breaks too so best to say it's around Easter plus or minus 4 weeks and that should be your safe haven for booking without a lot of kids on board. Rare Timmys_mom Posted March 2, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Our district in MN has spring break from April 9 - April 14.
caprcorn28 Posted March 2, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 2, 2006 And our break in another part of MN is March 27 thru April 3. Here is a link to a great website that another CC'er had posted in the past. It shows when major colleges/universities are on break. http://www.tripsmarter.com/panamacity/springbreak/sbcalendar2.htm I don't think you'll ever avoid all the kids...but maybe that link can help avoid the 'peak' times. rubato Posted March 2, 2006 #10 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Thanks Caprcorn! Unfortunately, we're going during major college break time (3/20), but that's when our son has break so we're kind of stuck!:)

MamaParrotHead Posted March 2, 2006 Author #16 Share Posted March 2, 2006 that the majority of college kids can't afford to cruise for a week, unless it's with their parents? I've seen it "rumored" on here that most kids go on shorter cruises. I like kids, but not when there are hundreds of 16-20 year olds, rowdy and trying to get bombed out of their minds on my vacation, LOL. :D And don't get me wrong, I love little kids, (I have 2 of my own, and I'm an inhome child care provider), it's just when DH and I can get away every few years, I prefer it to be with adults. zqvol Posted March 2, 2006 #18 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Take the 4/28 cruise. 4/14 is too close to Easter. The college where I teach is on spring break April 9 - 16. Lots of K-12 are on break the week after Easter.
marktac Posted March 2, 2006 #19 Share Posted March 2, 2006 With schools all taking a break at different times, it generally runs from early March to late April. The 4 counties around here are all on different schedules. Mark T
