Arizona Wildcat Posted September 4, 2022 #26 Share Posted September 4, 2022 Time to move on. Any substance or derivative substance that is banned by Federal law is illegal on board cruise ships. Have seen passengers removed at the next port and left on the pier with their belongings. Definitely a choice for each person to make. And the passengers were then subject to the laws where they were put ashore.
Rare stevenr597 Posted September 5, 2022 #27 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Federal law still prohibits the use of Marijuana. In addition, many of the countries that ships visit have rather harsh laws against the use of Cannabis. Add that to the rules against smoking on cruise ships, and in many cases, individuals that try to make use of this drug may be in for a world of hurt. Holly g Posted September 5, 2022 #28 Share Posted September 5, 2022 We were on a Celebrity cruise last month and while we stood inline to check in I noticed a sign that said CBD was not allowed on the ship. Found that a bit surprising. CBD is not marijuana so don’t know why they don’t allow it. Anybody?

Maybe ... just maybe ... because some CBD products contain trace amounts of THC that could be picked up in testing.

As others have stated, since there is no FDA approval for CBD products, there is no guarantee what the THC content is, and THC is the prohibited substance. The USCG has had numerous instances of mariners testing positive for THC when using CBD products. Other countries allow a certain amount of THC in CBD products sold there, but again, even in countries like Holland, where both marijuana and CBD products are legal (or at least non-criminalized), international convention (which is passed into each countries laws) prohibits THC products on ships.
