Just booked a Casino offer and scored a Balcony for taxes and Fees! Looking forward to crossing the pacific since it not something most land lubbers do.  I'm 4 star on HAL but this will be my first Carnival. Also excited about the ship, ex Costa now Carnival and just out of dry dock.

Should be fun and tie me kangaroo down mate!

I am booked on this one..I was determined to be on a cruise for my 60th birthday and this one popped up. Kangforpres,  ( what an intriguing username!), you will have a fabulous time as long as you manage your expectations! I remember my first Carnival cruise, on Spirit. We boarded and instantly thought “what have we done…it is so ORANGE”….but I knew it was big, brash, cheap and cheerful, so once we found the bits we liked and found how to avoid the bits we didn’t, we had a fabulous time. Anyone can cruise on any cruise ship as long as they are fully aware of what they are getting into. My favorite? Seabourn from Copenhagen to Montreal, but I can’t afford that sort of trip every time, so I cruise P&O Australia, Norwegian, Celebrity, Carnival, and when the itinerary is good and I have the money, Seabourn. I have never had a “bad” cruise!

We will be doing a B2B with the Great Barrier Reef on this ship immediately before this cruise.

We'll be doing an NCL from Sydney to Auckland beginning March 4, then flying to Brisbane to stay with friends we met on a Baltic cruise and travel the Gold Coast in the meantime.

We will be joining you on this cruise and have a couple questions......hoping some fellow cruisers may have some insight!

Has anyone checked into the required travel insurance?  Will the insurance offered by Carnival be adequate for the two stops that require covid insurance?

Covid testing for B2B.....we are planning to do the 4 day cruise before...will we be tested on the ship, or should we bring extra tests?

Will masking be required onboard, or is it just a suggestion??

Thanks so much in advance!!!  Looking forward to Oz!

There are still no recent pictures of Cabins on Luminosa.  However there are a number of excellent video tours which show the whole ship.

Hello all,

Andrew here from Ohio.

I will be joining you all on this cruise.   I'm going solo this time on a casino deal.  Flying LAX to SYD a few days before then to BNE.

Looking forward to the 22 days.

Does anyone know what testing  (covid) will be required?

I ask because my buddy is on the splendor from Sydney on April 11 and received a letter from Carnival that masking and testing  are required. I've yet to receive anything regarding testing etc.

Thanks for any info and looking forward to meeting you all.

We’re also B2B with you! We’re really  excited to visit the Whitsunday Islands! We’re actually B2B2B (happy we got the same cabin for 33 days straight!).

Flying from Charlotte to Sydney on 3/28- then we’ll take the train to Brisbane boarding the 4/2 7day.

Has anyone purchased their mandatory travel insurance? I’ve struggled finding a “Covid” coverage where we have printed proof. Happy to receive tips on insurance provider.

Hi Everyone! We were initially on the TP cruise for September, but changed it to this one last week. We are beyond excited. Where can we find information on which visa's and such that are needed for the various ports? We are from the United States and have passports and insurance. I tried looking on carnival's site for this information, but I can not find it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like there are a couple of soloists amongst us so we can keep each other company. look forward to meeting everyone. Does anyone know if they have lectures etc on Carnival? I am no longer young enough to party all night and sleep all day. Kay

Hi Everyone-

We just booked this cruise this past weekend. Cancelled our 14day LA-Alaska cruise on the Miracle in order to take advantage of a great offer. We are Stephanie and Lance from Redondo  Beach, Calif. super excited to visit Tahiti again. We were there Oct 2021.
Any avid snorkelers out there?

Anyone know which bay we dock in Moorea?

I’m looking to book a snorkel excursion with a local company in Moorea. . I’ll post what I find out if there’s interest.

Stephanie

Hi, Stephanie!!!!

This is so exciting that we will indeed cruise together!  Absolutely, Cheri and I are interested in joining you for Moorea snorkeling.

So much to plan and prepare and so little time since I just booked this yesterday!!!!

Transman and RCBmom - my stepdaughter and I will be flying to Brisbane from central Florida (we are in Lake County - literal center of the state 🙂 ).   If I may ask, what are your flight arrangements?  I'm late to the party and need to book very soon, if not yesterday.

Considering booking this cruise if I can find reasonable airfare from Seattle to Brisbane.  Do US residents need to acquire any visas prior to the cruise?

Yes You need a Visa. You can get apply for it  with Australian ETA app approx 20dollars, good for 1 year. You’ll also need to provide proof of comprehensive cruise,Covid,& repatriation travel insurance as required by New Caledonia and Fiji. Testing - Neg. (-))48hr PCR or within 24hr Rapid antigen test self test.

We are a party of four traveling on this cruise and the 2 previous Lumonisa sailings. We would love to start a LRC group since there are so many sea days to enjoy. I will post again if I find private tours to share with the group.

We are also on the previous 2 cruises! From what I’ve researched in the groups we may have to pack up and recheck in for our b2b’s due to Australian restrictions. Apparently Carnival in Australia operates differently. Please share if you find out anything about testing between the cruises I.e if we are on our own to self test or if Carnival will take care of it.

Thanks. I have an annual travel insurance policy with Allianz. I assume that would qualify?  Ok, the Australian ETA can all be done remote with the app without having to actual mail your passport anywhere, so that should be easy enough.

The travel insurance seems to be hot topic. We haven’t purchased yet but are looking at Allianz yearly plan. From what I’ve read The keywords the checkin agents in Brisbane are looking for is that it covers Covid and cruise (in Australia not all travel insurance covers cruises). We got another email today from Carnival:

CARNIVAL LUMINOSA & CARNIVAL SPLENDOR
UPDATE ON MASK REQUIREMENT – VOYAGES 10 DAYS OR MORE
19 FEBRUARY 2023 THROUGH 31 MAY 2023

On voyages, 10 days or longer, guests will be required to wear masks in public indoor spaces (unless eating and drinking or in their own staterooms) and outdoors when in large congregate events where physical distancing cannot be maintained.  Guests will also be required to wear masks during the entire embarkation and debarkation process, when on buses or water shuttles (where applicable), and while indoors on any shore excursion.  KN95 masks are more protective and are highly recommended for wearing.

This may or may not affect your decision

Thanks.  Went ahead and booked the cruise as a solo traveler.  The fare for a 22-day cruise was just so unbelievable good.  I found a reasonable non-stop flight from Vancouver BC to Brisbane that was cheaper than flights from Seattle.

I checked my Allianz yearly plan and it seems to explicitly exclude anything related to epidemics (and a FAQ on their website says this means Covid is not covered) unless there is some kind of Epidemic rider that I couldn't find any reference to.  I guess I'll need to call Allianz on Monday and find out what can be done about that.

By the way, I haven't traveled on Carnival since 2013 (been doing mostly NCL lately).  Are you supposed to receive a confirmation email from Carnival after booking/paying?   How long does it usually take to receive?

We're flying Delta out of Orlando to LAX and then connecting to Sydney, again on Delta.  Then from Sydney to Brisbane on Quantas.  A long slog but worth it.
