We have decided to book a short cruise on Queen Victoria for 4 nights.

Will there be a gala evening on a short cruise ?

Having been with Saga for a few Cruises we find the all inclusive drinks option not suitable anymore, with very limited wine choice,

as one lunchtime I asked for Rose Wine and they had none ! So we would prefer to have more choice.

Does anyone have any tips and advice for our first Cunard Cruise please.

Are the plug sockets English .

We are booking a basic Balcony cabin.

We have watched some You Tube reviews and the Queen Victoria looks very nice.

I believe that even short cruises will have a formal/gala night. Back in 2019 there were formal nights each way between Southampton and Hamburg.

There are 2 UK sockets [one typically has the electric kettle - but you can always move that].

There are also US 110 volt style sockets [next to the UK sockets on the desk; at the original TV location above the drawer with the hair dryer.

Congratulations on booking a Cunard cruise.

I can recommend at least one lunch in the Golden Lion, it's included in the price and if you don't want a drink with lunch, the staff will be happy to get you a glass of water.

Afternoon tea is a must and recommend arriving about half an hour before the advertised start time to avoid long queues.

You should get a gala night on the sea day.

We are just home today from a 4 day cruise in Queen Victoria. The gala evening was black and white theme. People do adhere to the dress code. It was lovely to see everyone dressed up. The ship is very elegant, the food good, the Verandah was excellent and I would recommend the afternoon tea in Queens room, as above arrive early. I was a little disappointed with the entertainment, not much going on in the day really.
Cunard do not sell a drinks package for less than 5 nights so that will not be an option.
