Jgarriso Posted September 9, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2022 We, 2 couples will be in Belize next month and have already done ruins, cave tubing and not interested in the caye's. I love snorkeling but some of our party can't spend the day in the sun. Looking at possibly doing a couple of hours around the city if there are things to do? are there different tours, like rum/chocolate/.... with maybe a stop at a nice Restaurant and/or bar for lunch. Just looking for suggestions on what to do or how to do it. Of course we will also shop around the pier but would like to get away for 2-5 hours and do something. Rare crewsweeper Posted September 10, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2022 You can stroll up to and cross the swing bridge and then go left down Albert Street past Bodies (nice store to wander around in) to St John's church and the House of Culture across the street (you can see it's canons from the tender on the way in). Or turn right before the swing bridge and go down Queens Street to the Belize Museum. Either come back and eat at Nerie's or head toward the Marine Parade to Celebrity's for lunch then continue down Marine Parade to the tender pier stopping at the lighthouse and the Belize sign. Finish off inside the Tender pier area at Wet Lizard. Or take a taxi out to Traveler's and do a tour of their distillery and pick up a bottle (or two) of their One Barrel Rum.
ABQrobin Posted September 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2022 Belize City is not a tourist town, it is a working city. You really will be disappointed. I would highly recommend an excursion that gets you out to one of the islands or out to the jungle.

We did ship excursions to Xunantunich and Lamanai because they are so far away. We were actually late back to the ship on the Xunantunich tour. Some cruisers have had good travel with private vendors to Lamanai. You can do Altun Ha via a private excursion if you wish as it's closer. Greenhopster Posted October 3, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 3, 2022 Altun Ha is a good ruins site to visit. We did it years ago. They sometimes tie it into a cruise up the river Wallace. Get off boat in a little joint that gives you chicken lunch with a coke. then board a bus to the ruins. I reccomend Altun Ha.
