Pearl late out of Quebec tonight

We left Pearl this morning in Quebec and planned to take photos as she sailed away at 4. She was still in port at 8.30 this evening. Is it an itinerary change for weather conditions. I think we were lucky to be ahead of the storm.

Sydney and Charlottetown has posted on their FB page that both calls on Sunday and Monday is canceled too

That hurricane is supposed to be extreme, and in Canadian Maritimes starting tonight.  It's being described as possibly being Canada's version of Sandy.

Is it possible the ship will just stay inland for another couple of days and then just head back, with fewer stops?

Winds are 40kt+ in the Gulf of St Lawrence now, so probably no sense going into that if the upcoming port stops are already cancelled.  On the other hand it's supposed to be a nice day in Quebec City.

Looks like the Pearl is still tied to the dock. That was from the last bow cam shot at 8:58 A.M.

The Pearl is still in port at Quebec according to the bow webcam. I wonder if they will just stay in port until the worst of Fiona passes and then set sail for Boston.

Tbh I can't really understand why Sydney (Cape Breton Island) was cancelled as well. According to windy.com's forecast, the storm will be gone by then:

This is likely the reason they have to cancel Sydney:

 

SYDNEY — The mayor and council serving the Cape Breton Regional Municipality have declared a state of local emergency after post-tropical storm Fiona brought with it widespread power outages, road closures, displaced residents and structural damage.

CBRM residents have been asked to shelter in place or, if shelter has failed, to contact 911 for evacuation.

A Red Cross shelter is in operation at Centre 200, the municipality said in a release.

Additional comfort centres around the municipality will be posted via CBRM's social media sites throughout the day. Comfort centres are opening when local travel is declared safe by officials. 

"It is currently not safe to travel. Downed power lines and trees are a significant hazard. Please remain sheltered," the municipality said in a release.

Things are rough in the Martimes now, Cape Breton has declared a state of emergency and there is considerable damage all over.

Praying for the wonderful people, homes, businesses and natural wonders of the Sydney area.  We got back to Boston on the Pearl nine days ago and had a very good time in Sydney. -

We also had a very good cruise from Boston to Quebec via Halifax, Sydney and Charlottetown and very grateful we had an uninterrupted cruise.

We have been in Quebec for a couple of days and as of 7pm this evening Pearl is still in port.

She's underway again.  I believe she departed around 8:30pm Saturday night the 24th.  Cruisemapper indicates she's bound for Halifax with a scheduled arrival of September 27th at 10a.
