We're jumping into transocean cruising with both feet!  Our first transocean voyage will be 29 days from Los Angeles to Auckland.  What do we need to know?  Weather in January?  Packing tips?  How did you manage close quarters for such a long time?

Congratulations!!! That's a good way to start!

I think the longest we have been continuously on a ship was 8 weeks, and we managed, always with a balcony.

You shouldn't have much in extremes going across, and it will be Summer in New Zealand.

Thanks for bringing back some great memories of "Real" sailing. I was fortunate enough to catch the tail end of the great days of steaming on real ships.

My mother and grandmother (were from France) and step grandfather came over in 1923 on President Harding out of Bremon Germany. They arrived Ellis Island May 4. 1923.
