Upgrading internet as a sapphire in the casino

Hi all. Hopefully a kind-of easy question about going from surf to stream (do they even use those anymore, lol?). My husband is sapphire in the casino, and one of the benefits on the chart is that you get 1 device with Xcelerate High Speed Internet. Does that mean the slower wifi or is it actually stream? He received an offer that included the beverage package and the internet, but is that because it was associated with his tier or just because of his play? Who would he talk to on board about getting it sorted out? He thinks he will have to pay the full price to upgrade because he needs the faster internet but I would think he'd be entitled to some sort of partial credit. You know how it goes when you call and try to ask questions...Thanks everyone!

If he is Sapphire (I'm Sapphire and have done this a few times), he will not have to pay to upgrade and will get the high speed stream wifi for free.  When he gets on the ship he should set up his wifi account and see if there is a casino option for the packages to pick once he gets to that step.  If the one included in his cruise package is the surf wifi, it will show up as an option as well and there will be paid options.  If he doesn't see the casino option (sometimes the Casino host has it on in advance and sometimes they don't), don't select any packages and go down to the internet person set up to help people the first day (usually near guest services, but not guest services itself).  He will show them his seapass card that shows he is Sapphire and they will add the casino stream wifi package to his account.

Once he is connected he can test it by going to youtube.  If he cannot stream videos on youtube they likely accidently have him the surf wifi.  If he can start streaming videos, even if it isn't great, he has stream.

As a note it is better to have your wifi account set up first before you go see them, as the casino package may already be on there as an option to select, and, if not, the internet guys need you have your wifi account set up in order to add the casino wifi package, if it wasn't already set up as an option to pick.

They changed the name of the internet packages and pure speculation they may change again once starlink is deployed to the majority of ships.  The Xcelerate name was scrubbed and many X employees, both shore side and on board still call it "Surf" and "Stream", it's now called "Basic" or "Premium".

It's also speculation that the internet will go up in price sooner than later (like everything else), not the worst idea to call X and buy the internet ahead of time (If you have AI you can pre-pay for the upgrade from basic to premium) and if something happens such as price drop (odds are that won't happen) you can always cancel and rebuy.
